Uniqueness of Jesus

Have you ever considered how unique Jesus is in the history of all mankind? Among all men, let’s consider many ideas believed about him and compare them to a battery of evidence which leads us to a greater understanding about Jesus.

For instance:

  • Jehovah’s Witnesses view Jesus as a lesser god who was created and was more like the angels. 1

  • Christian Science followers say Jesus is not the Christ but displayed the Christ-ideal.

  • Unitarians think Jesus was just a man and nothing else.

  • Spiritualism believers think Jesus’ death did nothing but that He was the greatest medium of all time.

  • Theosophy says Jesus was not a man and every man has a Christ principle within his being.

  • Baha’i believers think Jesus was not divine but just a “manifestation”, one of the many which would include: Buddha, Moses, and most recently Baha ‘U’ llah.

  • Unity followers believe Jesus was a man who had “Christ consciousness” and had lived many times and was searching for His own salvation.

  • 7th Day Adventists think Jesus was not originally the Son of God, but was promoted to this position which caused a conflict in heaven enraging Lucifer against Him.

  • Muslims believe Jesus is a prophet, but not deity.

  • Mormons believe Jesus is a spirit brother with Satan and they are fighting over who gets to rule earth.

  • Catholics believe Jesus becomes a wafer and you get salvation by eating Him.

  • New Age believers think everyone has a Christ within them and they must work to bring Him out.

  • Hindus see Jesus as just another god among the many gods they believe in.

  • Buddhists and many others believe Jesus was a good teacher.

  • Some who believe in energy healing believe Jesus used energy healing to perform His miracles.

  • Social justice activists believe followers of Jesus must work to bring social justice on.

  • Some seeking racial reconciliation believe Jesus came to establish this as part of His main objective.

  • Homosexuals and LGBTQs believe that they were made that way; whoever Jesus may be.

  • And you still have The Church universal and Triumphant, Divine Light Mission, Children of God, Krishna Consciousness, Scientology, Transcendental Meditation, The Unification Church, Secular Humanism, Eckankar, Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and the list goes on…

Jesus is the most authenticated individual in ancient history based upon the documented evidence and the sheer number of documents available. 2 To deny His existence is to commit intellectual suicide, 3 and He is the only founder of any religion who has died and yet has an empty grave that can be visited. More lives have been changed for the better by what He has said and done than any other in history, yet, of all the so called ‘gods’ that exist it is the name of Jesus that is almost exclusively used as an expletive deletive.

If you choose to bring His name up in a conversation the chances are strong that your conversation will end soon. You will be chided for offensiveness or lack of intelligence or simply mocked. People often stop talking and walk away. Yet, whether folks realize it or not they do reference their lives based upon His life since the Gregorian calendar is based upon His birth, though today the dates on the calendar are called C. E. and B.C.E.

In the world today more people are killed or suffer persecution because they believe in who Jesus said He is than in any other people group. To these Jesus is worth dying for and they can’t bear to think of living without Him because He is truly unique. Unlike all the other religions and teachers who declare a way to truth, Jesus presents Himself as The Truth. 4 Their stories are not fairy tales and fables but bloody accounts, and some of horror and torture. 5

If you don’t like hell fire and brimstone preaching you won’t like Jesus because He is the original hell fire and brimstone preacher. He came to seek and save sinners from hell. He said wide is the way that leads to destruction 6 and many are on that way. He said that because He was on the way to be crucified on a cross of wood, shed His life blood and die in the place of all who were going on the wide way to destruction, hell fire, and brimstone. Jesus’ proclamation of the way being wide and many on it going to destruction is fulfilled in all the wrong beliefs listed above about who He is. There are many more wrong beliefs about who He is and they all do the same thing: they all make Jesus into who they think He should be according to the way they are going. They think they are right, but are wrong because they never studied what Jesus said, and what he said about Himself, and they don’t look closely at all the things that He did, and they never consider all the prophecies He spoke about Himself, His people, and the world. 7

Jesus is God in flesh. So many people think that Jesus is not God but that they are god even though everything was already here when they got here and they didn’t know that they were god until all of a sudden they realized that they must be god; and they just showed up on the scene not long ago. The uniqueness of Jesus is He is real in the history of the earth by His accounts and others; God in flesh who has lived and experienced humanity like all humanity has. 8 What other god has done this? He did this so that He might be touched by the feelings of our infirmities and afflictions, which included dying. 9

As God in the flesh, Jesus offers life to those who will accept Him for who He really is: who He said He is and who He has shown that He is. Those who receive Him this way realize He is righteous and that they are not. They know they are sinners who have lied, lusted, and coveted, and cursed. They understand they have lived selfishly while Jesus lived selflessly. His ultimate unique ability and unique willingness to sacrifice himself for the sins of others, while not forcing Himself and His salvation upon them, is also discounted by those on the wide road to destruction. One must accept Him as Lord and Savior to receive His eternal life.

  • For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

  • For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

  • The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life thru Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

  • That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

  • For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Have you, yes you, ever called out to the true Lord Jesus for salvation from your sins unto eternal life??
